Efforts are under way to raise awareness about a greater number of concussions being reported among school athletes and help schools protect students form incurring repeat injuries. Proposed legislation introduced this week would standardize public-school policies for responding to and treating concussions among school athletes. Study shows students eating habits can improve. A study in Berkeley, California, provides evidence that school system changes can result in better eating habits in students. Five years ago, the school system introduced a curriculum focused on gardening, cooking, and nutrition, and the cafeterias began making the lunches from scratch. When is bullying more likely to be reported to school officials?
Bullying often goes unreported in U.S. schools, making the problem difficult for school officals to identify and manage. Regional Educational Laboratory reaserchers identified 11 characteristics to increased reporting of bullying to school officials. In this webinar, co-authors Anthony Petrosino and Satah Guckenburg share the findings from their newly published report, "What Characteristica of Bullying, Bullying Victims and injury, physical threats, destructuion of property, physical contact, greater frequency, multiple types, more that one location or at least one occurrence on a school bus, bullying victims were mor likely to indiacate that their victimization was reported to a school official.
